About Sweetwater

Founded in 2021 by Zach Jones, Sweetwater Therapy is a Fargo-based practice specializing in pediatric speech and language development as well as feeding therapy. For six years, Zach worked in early intervention services for infants and toddlers and was continually frustrated by the lack of support options for children over age three. He founded Sweetwater Therapy so that he could provide research-based, innovative, and compassionate therapy for kids and their families during that critical development time and beyond. Since then, he’s expanded his practice to include older children and teenagers because kids of all ages deserve their best chance to thrive.

Sweetwater Family Feedback

Communication is so deeply important, and I know my sons have been frustrated when I don't understand what they are asking of me. Every time they get better at communicating to me and my husband, I know they feel less frustration, which makes me less frustrated, too! My sons look forward to their sessions, and every plan is dynamic and individualized.

Speech therapy has been an invaluable support for both of my kids and it can address so much more than just letter sounds and lisps. Not only has speech therapy helped each child improve in their goals, but it has also helped to build their confidence and persistence. Since working with Zach, my son’s expressive language skills have vastly improved. He used to experience a lot of frustration when he couldn’t express his wants and needs. Now with the practice and tools Zach has provided, we have a child who is much calmer, more patient and better able to communicate his needs. Again, I can’t overstate how fortunate we count ourselves to have found Zach for our children’s speech and language support.

We have had nothing but an amazing experience while working with Zach and Sweetwater Therapy. My son is so comfortable with Zach and gets so excited to see him each week for their session together! He has come a long way thanks to Zach!

Zach's great energy and spirit is contagious so my son lights up as soon as he sees Zach. It's a wonderful connection to see. Since he’s been in therapy with Zach, my son initiates play with us more often now, and he wants to try more imaginative play with family members. I have learned so much as a parent from Sweetwater Therapy.

I am beyond thankful for Zachary Jones. He has been so kind and helpful through this entire process. He is always flexible and willing to work with our schedules so that my son gets the help he needs even with our busy and frequently changing schedules. Speech therapy has made communication so much easier for my son. It was difficult for others to understand him prior, but now he can talk without so much struggle and frustration and feel heard. He has better communication with kids at school and teachers, which has also helped him academically as well as helped him build friendships. Zach has made his world so much easier, and I’m forever thankful!

FAQs

What ages do you work with?

Sweetwater Kids are infants, toddlers, preschoolers, children, and teenagers.

Do you offer free screening?

Yes. After our initial conversation, we can meet to determine whether your child would benefit from our services.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sanford Health Plan, and North Dakota Medicaid and intend to expand our insurance partnerships.

What if my insurance does not cover this therapy?

Other payment arrangements can be made on an individual basis.

Why do you need a doctor’s order to provide therapy?

Most insurance companies require a referral from the child’s primary care provider. Your pediatrician (or nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant) will send Sweetwater Therapy orders to evaluate and treat your child.

Where does therapy take place?

One of our therapists will travel to your home, child’s daycare, or after-school program for regularly scheduled therapy sessions. We consider our travel time part of our service to you, so we do not charge for travel.

How long are your sessions?

Sessions range from 30-45 minutes long. This gives our clinicians enough time to connect with your child and work toward our goals while still keeping your child engaged.

How long will my child be in therapy?

It will probably not surprise you that the answer is “It depends.” The length of therapy is determined by various factors, such as your child’s specific needs, goals, and caregiver collaboration.
